I have enjoyed an older version of this same design for 20 YEARS with no problems. I have not used it continuously during that time, but at least 10-15 years of the the time that I have owned it. The battery lasted about 8-10 years each time. The buttons all still work. I have replaced the watch band once. Imagine how happy I was to find a watch of almost exactly the same design for less than I paid 20 years ago! This watch has some significant improvements over my original. A metal guard has been placed over the face of the watch to protect it. The "Set" button has been reduced in size to avoid accidental resets of the time. The great Velcro band has been retained. If possible, I like this watch better than my diehard original in design. Unfortunately, it will take another 20 years before I can comment on the relative quality. We bought this watch for my 8 year old son for Christmas. He has worn it almost everyday for 6 months. He loves it and it's so easy for him to use. The buttons are easy for kids fingers to use. He loves the indiglo light feature. The stretchy band makes it easy for him to put on and take off. It is also easy to adjust bigger or smaller. He accidently wore it swimming, and the screen went blank. We replaced the battery and it works fine again. It does states that it is water-resistant, not water-proof. My husband's fifteen year old Timex finally started acting up several weeks ago. He tried a new battery but that seemed to be the problem, the battery compartment no longer held the battery in place. I found this Timex Easy Reader clone of his old watch online and was very happy when it arrived the day before Christmas. Almost everything is perfect, especially for the price, the only negative is the slightly too short expansion band. I realize expansion bands allow for some leeway but the included band pinches his wrist. We resolved that issue by swapping bands with his old watch and he's back in business. I have owned several Timex Reef Gear watches and they are my favorite sport watch. It is the one watch that I can read in the middle of the night with the lights out! With it's large clock and Indiglo feature I can read it without my glasses. I like to use the dual alarm feature which is especially usefull when traveling. I also like the fact that I can leave it on while swimming and snorkeling so I can keep track of the time. You do have to be careful not to drop this watch because the outer ring can break off, it still worked but didn't look as good. I was disappointed when I could not find it in the stores any longer but very happy that I can still find it at Amazon.com.

I was looking for a sporty, young-looking, low-profile, waterproof, unique digital watch. I only need it for day-to-day timekeeping and recreational swimming, so lap functions are not important to me. This watch was perfect for my needs--it's beautiful, fits my college style, keeps great time, and is waterproof (the instruction sheet is very specific about not pushing any buttons while the watch is in water). I've never had problems with condensation, water seepage, or anything malfunctioning, despite having worn it for recreational swimming in a chlorinated pool.

The watch, true to its name, is sleek. It's not bulky like other sports watches, and doesn't scream "Hardcore Runner!" which is great because I'm not one. On the other hand, it's also not tiny-dainty, which is good news for my bigger stature. The Indiglo-lit numbers are very bright and perfectly readable in low light. The default watch display shows time (with seconds), date (month and day), and day of the week. These are all easy to read at a glance.

The watch is truly dark purple and white, like in the picture, and feminine without being girly. I actually wear my watch with the face on the inside of my wrist because that's how my best friend in high school wore it--the band and clasp look good, and so far I haven't scratched the face.

Great watch for $60. Love the alarm function. I have several timex watches and like this one as much as any of the others. Nobody confuses it with my Rolex but takes a lickin and keeps on ticken and won't hurt when it's ready to retire. I also have the identical one with "yellow white" face and leather band. Received this watch for Christmas and I noticed a deep scratch on the face on January 6. I don't remember hitting the watch on anything; I only wear it to work and had it on under a sweater all day, so the scratch is from what I would call normal wear and tear. Because of this watch's sleek design, the face is not protected from scratching. Also, the side buttons are very easy to bump; often, when I check the time, my watch displays "chrono" meaning the mode button has been bumped.

I live and work on the water and the tide feature is the best. Easily out performs any electronic watch with a tide feature. It does take a some time to get comfortable using but I now immediately distinguish the tide hand from the minute or hour hands (it's shaped differently). As one reviewer noted along with the instructions. The temperature feature is not useful unless removed from your wrist. The time and the tides were the reason for my purchase. I've had this watch for about a month. I wanted something dressy and a little retro. I previously bought another Timex with a steel bracelet, but it was just too heavy and too thick. It got in the way when I was typing and I could feel the weight of it on my wrist all of the time.
This watch is not as slim as some, but good enough. It doesn't snag on my shirt cuffs too much and I don't notice the weight. I didn't care for the strap it came with (also the strap buckle was quite thick and did still interfere when using the computer). But I replaced it with a Hadley Roma oiled leather strap and now I am very pleased with the watch overall.
The Indiglo makes it easy to read in dark situations.
PROS:
Good value, keeps time well, good style, indiglo, not too bulky or heavy.

CONS:

The Timex T40091 is a good knock around watch. It has big numbers for oldsters, like me, whose vision is changing. Other reviews mentioned that the band's eyelets become frayed and this is TRUE.
