I really enjoyed this watch for about 18 months. It was at that point I began to notice cracks in the band. I was able to glue a couple of them until i just gave up. The band was disintegrating on my arm. I did wear it every day, but it saw little or no abuse as I sit behind a desk. Also the crystal is prone to scratching.

EDIT: I just called Timex. They will repair/replace for $10. They also suggested that WalMart may have prepaid Timex shipping envelopes in the Watch department. Swing by to pick one up and shipping there and back is on them. I purchased my original Timex watch around 1980. It has been a wonderful watch surviving a couple of few battery changes, two replacement twistoflex bands and a lot of use. Over the years there has been some corrotion on my 1980 model making the buttons dificult to use, so about eight years back I started looking for a replacement.

Styles change and digital watched all seemed to address the needs of runners and deep sea divers. I was stunned and delighted to find the Timex Men's Classic Digital watch with a twistoflex band. Now I have a dress watch!
My one demerit, thus only a four star rating, is for the band being one twistoflex link too tight.
Many folks make think me nuts for carrying on about a plain Timex watch but it is every thing I want in a watch. Also I know two other folks that still cherish their +25 year old classic Timex watches. Love this watch. I just ordered another one of these to replace the worn-out one I have. Over several years, I've replaced the battery as well as the strap. I've beaten the heck out of this one: the silver paint is worn off in spots and the black rubber "shock" cover is beginning to come loose.

I use it for running, and the controls are easy to use. The Velcro strap is nice for when you want to wear the watch on the outside of your jacket.

IRONMAN iControl Watch - Unisex by Timex

Overall it's a decent product. The control scheme is a bit confusing and the band feels cheap. But it does provide a lot of useful functions like lap timer and countdown timer. However there is one design flaw which ruins it - the remote adapter that attaches to the Ipod is too large. On a 4th gen Nano, the adapter almost covers the earphone jack. The Ipod pack-in headphones will fit, but almost any L-shaped connector will not. That means you can't use it with most of the headphones on the market. If I can't use the headphones I want with it, it's pretty much useless. It does fit okay on a 3rd gen Nano or full-size Ipod. But since I use it when I run, I don't want to carry a full-size Ipod. For a runner, get the Nike + iPod WatchRemote (Remote Watch Amp+) - Black/Dark Grey - WM0053-003 instead. It has a lot fewer functions, but it does the important stuff - tell time and control the Ipod. 1. It feels like a 25$ watch; it's very lightweight and probably not very shock resistant. To that end, I'm curious how long it's actually going to last

I've purchased this same exact watch before and it worked great. Used it for swimming, running, and everything in between. Not a problem with the first watch. I decided to purchase the same exact watch again through amazon.com since my first watch was getting pretty beat up. I'd had it for years and the wrist band was about to go. The silver grey paint was starting to flake off. The new second watch looked exactly as my first watch except the 2nd day I used it for my usuall swimming sessions I noticed the watch a few hours later had fogged and water had gottten into the watch were it shorted out the crystal display. Bad luck of the draw!?!?!? I'll probably buy another of the same model and figure that this one just happened to be a lemon.

This watch is very nice but there is one odd thing: the date is IMPOSSIBLE to read. It is so small that you cannot even see it with a magnifying glass. In fact, I tried with a magnifying glass and still could not read it. I'm not sure why they include this feature, since it is way too small to see? Personally I don't care that much since I never really use the date, you have to keep remembering to adjust it every month. However it seems strange that the watch is sold as an "easy reader", and the hour numbers are all very large, but then the date is so tiny you cannot read it at all.
